Liverpool player Mo’ Salah celebrating one of the goals from the 5 - 0 win over Manchester United.
“Crush your goals” is the ultimate mantra of dreamers. It is a statement that pronounces the essence of focus and resilience in the pursuit of a major goal. The statement acknowledges the presence of hurdles in the path to greatness and the need to beat them. It is a valid statement that is universally true for all forms of pursuit.
3 simple words it seems but the practice is often not so simple. It could be lengthy and torturous. Abraham Lincoln took 8Ls to become the American president. Thomas Edison bundled 9999 experiments to make the bulb work. This is almost impossible to accurately capture the pain of the process. I believe you get the point.
In my experience, intentionality is the sine qua non of goal setting. Make clear your goal. Develop a good plan. Have faith. Give it your best. Accept fate. About a year ago, I wrote down a 4-goal list that included career, romance, and spirituality. With the dreamer mindset, I crushed 3 of those goals but missed out on the fourth. Perfect outcomes aren’t guaranteed but satisfaction may be.
